Just Bought ANOTHER Liberty for Parts ;- )
« on: August 12, 2019, 04:02:42 PM »
Just spoke to Scot to see if he had a PARTS Liberty in 22 cal in stock, he was extremely helpful and checked his books and found one ------ I took it.

This one is a wood stocked version, so we will see how it goes. If the gun is non functional I will take it apart and do my best to give you guys O ring sizes. Other parts will be put in bags, siliconed and put away.

If I can get the gun to function, then It will be a user to join my other Liberty at my hunting grounds.

As always a full report to follow ?

If it's not a shooter take action out of your best liberty and put it in the wood stock. I don't think there is much that can't be fixed on a liberty or the freedom.

Don't know if I would want a wood stock. Not saying you did wrong but, I just don't think I would put the wood on one of my functioning guns if that one won't work. Heck, parts guns are great to have around.

No, I’m hoping the parts gun functions.... it will be tuned a bit differently, maybe with 21gr Nelson Slugs in the 925+ FPS area, I don’t know yet !!

It will be, if possible tuned for head shots on coons, possum, and ‘yotes in the 50 yard area.

We will see :-) the gun has the genetics to do it :-)

The last Liberty parts gun I received, had all the misc parts, but had a fast and a slow leak.  I think you will like the wood stock, outside of the additional lb of weight.  If not, I have a plastic stock if you would like to swap.

I'm looking forward to this gun ... where were two leaks from, this one might have the same issue .... also what were the sizes of washers used ?

I'm going to try the wood stock and see how I like it, I may trade if I don't like it ?

The big leak was the plenum o-ring.  The slow leak I haven't dug in and found yet.  Too many outside projects.   Only minor gun stuff until late fall, early winter.

I hear that !!!  Way to hot for projects that require outdoor testing. I have a Freedom and a Maximus with slow (overnight) leaks. They can wait until cooler weather. Meantime I have a couple inside jobs to work on when bench time allows.

Off topic: This project is almost complete. 5' X 50' dock.   Need to stain/seal and some concrete on the shore attachment.

Well have not heard anything so far, I'm hopping they have sent my Liberty "Parts" gun and maybe I can get it this Friday ?

I really want to set it up (if it works) for a little hunting trip. I may set her up shooting slugs or Monsters. I'm thinking 25gr original Monsters in the 825-850 fps area. Giving me over 25 fpe at 65 yards for bigger game ! From what Steve has posted I think I can get a little more fps. Now it is a matter of accuracy !

Going to have to see how my new Liberty shoots Monsters ? ... We will see ? 25fpe at 65 yards is pretty nice.
